When we decided to visit the pretty little island of Nusa Ceningan, we had no idea that the hotel we chose – Svaha Private Villas – was going to be the perfect place to stay and enjoy our time at Nusa Ceningan. It was only after we arrived there did we actually grasp how gorgeous it is and start to wish that we could have stayed there a few more days! Everything about Svaha Private Villas is to be loved – a warm family run business, supporting a local business, small beautifully kept villas that had the Balinese charm to them and an incredible location.
We could go on and on about Svaha Private Villas, but here are our takeaways!
What we loved:
♥ The Hotel: The whole property is very small and has a very small number of rooms. We stayed in the sea-view villa, and it was spectacular. All the rooms have a beautiful plunge pool, but the sea-view villa’s plunge pool overlooks the beautiful blue ocean and is a gorgeous place to lounge and relax . The rooms are a bit small, but honestly, that’s all you need. The bed is comfortable and the villa, overall is just a pretty place to stay.
♥ Location: While the island of Nusa Ceningan is absolutely our favourite so far in Indonesia, the location of Svaha Private Villas is something to talk about. Placed bang in the middle of the lovely stretch of beachside restaurants and hotels, Svaha Private Villas is super accessible and right on the shoreline.
♥ The Staff: We have to give a shout out to Wayan, the guy who runs Svaha Private Villas. He is by far the nicest, most friendly person we have met , and his outlook towards running Svaha Private Villas is just so amazing. With a huge smile on his face always, he was ready to help us with anything that we needed and even gave his scooter to us so we could explore the island comfortably.
♥ The Breakfast: Like most properties in this part of Indonesia, a set breakfast is served (you pick your options the previous night). Except that here the breakfast is served in your room on a cute wooden table right next to the plunge pool, where you can eat the first meal of the day with a beautiful view. The food was lovely, and we really enjoyed spending the morning just relaxing and eating breakfast.
What we didn’t love:
✘ The Bathroom: Svaha Private Villas have open roof bathrooms which aren’t really fun, especially in the rainy season. There were small issues with the drainage of water, and while it was nice to shower looking at the sky, we can’t say the same about our alone time sitting on the pot. Rains get EVERYTHING wet, including the toilet paper and the trash can. Plus, no mirror in the bathroom.
✘ The Lighting: The lighting in this room was really not great. Even during the daytime it felt quite dark, and there was only one tiny mirror in the room which made getting ready quite a task.
Apart from the minor setbacks, Svaha Private Villas is an excellent place to stay, and we would highly recommend it and would definitely go back for another stay! Svaha Private Villas is COAN approved!
